Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect and process your personal data when you use Pregnancy Scan (the “App”) or interact with us.
Who is responsible for your personal data?
Team Penguin, a French company with registered office at 128 rue de la Boétie, 75008 Paris (France) and company number 811 667 674 RCS Paris (“we”), is the controller of your personal data.
Minimum age
Protecting the safety and privacy of children is very important to us. We do not knowingly collect or use personal data from anyone under the age of 16 years old, without the consent of both the child and the holder of parental responsibility. Therefore, you represent that you are at least 16 years old or above when you provide your personal data in relation to our products or services. If you are not at least 16 years old, you must ask the consent of your parent or legal guardian to provide us with your personal data.
What data do we collect about you and how do we use it?
Authentication Data:
We collect basic profile information when you sign in using Apple, Facebook, or Google authentication services. This includes:
- Email address
This processing is necessary to create and manage your account and is based on the performance of our contract with you.
Photo Analysis Data:
When you use our scan analysis feature for food, recipes, and menus:
- We process photos you upload through our artificial intelligence systems (powered by OpenAI and Claude)
- Original photos are automatically anonymized before AI processing
- Original photos are stored for 24 hours after upload, then permanently deleted
- Analysis results are stored for 12 months from the date of analysis
- You can delete your scan history and analysis results at any time through the App settings
This processing is based on your consent and is necessary to provide you with food safety and nutritional guidance during pregnancy.
Data Anonymization:
- All uploaded photos are automatically stripped of metadata
- Unique identifiers are removed and replaced with randomized tokens
- No direct connection is maintained between your account and the anonymized photos sent for AI analysis
- Analysis results are re-associated with your account using secure tokenization
We can also collect:
- Data related to in-app purchases: if you make an in-app purchase in the App, we will collect purchase, transaction, and payment information relating to your in-app purchase. This processing is necessary to perform our contract with you and to comply with our accountability and record-keeping legal obligations.
- Information that you provide us when you contact us: we process that information with your consent, as long as necessary to respond to your demand.
Automated Data Collection:
When you use the App, we collect information for the following purposes:
- Push notifications – Google Firebase
- Transaction management – RevenueCat
- Authentication services – Apple, Facebook, Google
- Audience and attribution measurement (analytics) – Facebook, Google Firebase, Google Analytics and Mixpanel
- AI-powered photo analysis – OpenAI, Anthropic
Data Retention:
- Authentication data: Retained for the duration of your account
- Transaction data: Retained for 10 years for accounting purposes
- Original photos: Deleted after 24 hours
- Analysis results: Stored for 12 months, unless deleted by user
- Support communications: Retained for the duration necessary to handle your request plus 2 years
User Control Over Data:
- You can delete your scan history and analysis results at any time through the App settings
- You can export your data before deletion
- Deleting your account will remove all associated data except where we have a legal obligation to retain it
- You can opt out of analytics collection while maintaining core App functionality
Who do we disclose your personal data to?
Your personal data is only accessible to:
- Relevant personnel within our company
- Our service providers (AI providers, authentication providers, analytics providers)
- Professional advisors when required
- Authorities and regulators where required by law
Data Security and International Transfers:
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data. Some of our service providers are located outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Any international transfers of your personal data are made pursuant to appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses).
Your Rights:
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access and obtain a copy of your data
- Rectification of inaccurate data
- Erasure of your data (in certain cases)
- Restriction of processing
- Data portability
- Withdrawal of consent
- Objection to processing based on legitimate interests
- Define directives regarding your data after your death
